The department undertakes the construction of residential apartment buildings, including modern housing developments such as those showcased at Skardshlid, where thoughtful design, efficient layouts, and long-term structural quality are prioritized. These projects reflect a focus on livability, reliability, and practical construction solutions suited to Icelandic conditions.
Beyond residential construction, the team builds industrial facilities, steel frame buildings, schools, and other commercial structures, supporting both private and public sector clients. Infrastructure projects such as bridges and underpasses are also part of the department’s scope, requiring strong technical planning, material expertise, and precise execution.
In addition to new construction, VHE provides alteration work, structural upgrades, and repair and maintenance services.
